Don 2 Hit or Flop?

30th December 2011

So, finally the week has ended for Don 2! Fantastic end for the year! After a good performance till Tuesday, Don continued to earn well even on Wed and Thursday. Don collected about 6.5 crores nett on Wednesday and about 6 crores nett on Thursday making it's week one total about 72.5 Crores nett which is quite impressive. 100 crores don't seem to far from here and the fight is between this one being a super-hit and a blockbuster.

28th December 2011

After weekend, this is the time when strength of big movies are tested. Although, Don 2 has managed to earn quite well in this time and has managed to earn about 7.5 crores on Monday and about 6 crores nett on Tuesday making it's 5 day nett gross about 60 crores and today and tomorrow, would add about 10 crores making week one about 70 crores.

Week 2 also seems to be of don's as there is no release this Friday. It means Don would earn about 25 crores then too and would end up close to 100 crores and there are most chances that it would cross that mark. If it does, it would be Priyanka's first ofcourse..;)

26th December 2011

3 days since the big release and the weekend is over. Don 2 was expected to do exceptional at box-office but it has averaged. The film managed to earn 14 crores nett on Friday, 14.5 on Saturday and about 16.7 crores on Sunday making the 3 day total to about 45-46 crores. It has grossed about 7-8 crores less than Bodyguard and Ra.One. The film will gross about 65-67 crores in week 1 and may finish total gross with about 95 crores. Quite less than expectation! ;)

25th December 2011

So, its two days since the big release! And yeah, we must say a great release. Unlike other blockbusters released this year, Don 2 has got a positive word-of-mouth and quite nice reviews. Although, collections f Don are quite less when compared to Ra.One or Bodyguard.

Don 2 collected 14 crores nett on Friday which means about 7 crores or about 33% less than Bodyguard's collections. The film is failing in rural areas which is obvious as it is quite a high-end film which cant seduce poor people to watch it. On Saturday, the film grossed about 14.5 crores making two day total just 28.5 crores (Which is very high, but low when compared to Ra.One and Bodyguard).  The film's shows on Sunday are quite housefull and thus, it may gross about 18 crores today netting it's weekend with about 47-50 crores which is very well when compared to Desi Boyz and Rockstar while it is quite less when compared to Bodyguard and Ra.One whose business were about 55-60 crores nett. It is impossible for Don 2 to achieve that mark, but, they say impossible is nothing!

Next Update tomorrow.

23rd December 2011

As the big film has released, it has started trending. The film has proved to have good qualities which means a positive word of mouth. Looking at the opening of the film, the morning shows were quite good and were ranging from 75-100% start. The film has released in about 2800 screens which means its a pro for the film. Moreover, comparatively, Ra.One was quite more better on initial day than Don 2. But, as far as Ra.One is concerned, it was released in Diwali Vacation which meant a good gross. While in most states Christmas vacations are not there. Which affects Don 2. But overall, the film is expected to earn about 16-18 crores today.

Next Update Tomorrow.

It's been quite a time since we got such a wonderful year. As the year is just 15 days away from its end, we bring you the last coverage of a film's fate this year. Because of some reason, I could not update the site for few days but now it will work and I apologize for not completing the Dirty Picture coverage. (The film became a super hit with 65 crore+ gross).

Now, looking at Don 2, this one is another big film after releases of Ready, Bodyguard, Ra.One, Rockstar. Even Singham and ZNMD join the list. So, Don 2 is surely expected to open well. The way Ra.One opened with a 98 crore gross in first five days, it seemed to break all records, but it ended collecting 118 crores. Ra.One had a few drawbacks.

Firstly,It was a sci-fiction film. Such movies have low scope in India.

Secondly, The film had over-promotions which probably kept people thinking about the quality of the film.

Thirdly, It was an average film, which decreased its gross.

Lastly, It wasn't a sequel of any big film so that it could continue earning despite of all these drawbacks, it could cross 150 crore mark.

Looking at Don, leaving the third point, every point is in favor of Don 2. And moreover, it is a film of Farhan Akhtar. Whose value, everyone knows. This makes the film a sure-fire blockbuster. I don't see this one earning anything less than 100 crores for sure. This one may be first 100 crore film for Priyanka.

But, this one has a little drawback too. Its that the film is releasing just after Ra.One which decreased the credibility of SRK for sure. This point may discourage people from watching the film. So, it may not cross Dabangg or Bodyguard.

Here's what we expect Don to earn.

DAY 1:-            16 Crores
WEEKEND:-    52 Crores
WEEK 1:-         87 Crores
WEEK 2:-         17 Crores
TOTAL:-           120 Crores

This expectation is if the film gets an average response. A good response can boost the earning to about 150 Crore + while a negative word-of-mouth would stop the earning at 115 Crore more or less.

It must be noted that this is just an expectation of the film and not the verdict. For newer updates, Bookmark this page and keep following the page. Next Update on this post would be on the release day of the film at about 3 PM IST, Or at about 10:30 AM GMT.
